How can I dispose of chemicals found in the home?

It can be dangerous to throw away your household chemicals in the garbage, incinerator, down any drains or sinks such as the laundry, bathroom or kitchen, down toilets or outside in the gully traps.

Chemicals can be hazardous to the environment, your family, garbage collectors and wastewater (sewerage) systems.

The correct way to dispose of potentially hazardous chemicals is through the CleanOut program. CleanOut is a FREE service run by the Department of Environment & Heritage together with your local council. CleanOut events are held at various locations throughout NSW at specified dates throughout the year.

To find out more about what you can dispose of, or when the next collection date is, please visit the Household Chemical CleanOut website.
